Neues Museum is located in the historic center and easy to reach. It's just a few steps away from the nearby main railway station. A few minutes' walk leads from Bahnhofsplatz through the Artisans‘ Yard at Königstor to Klarissenplatz.

Tuesday to Sunday: open from 10 am to 6 pm
Thursday: open from 10 am to 8 pm

Closed on Mondays.

The museum is open on the following public holidays
from 10 am – 6 pm:
New Year's Day, Epiphany, Shrove Tuesday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, May 1, Ascension of Christ, Whit Sunday, Whit Monday, Corpus Christi, Reunification Day, All Saints Day, Boxing Day.

The museum is closed on the following days:
Rosenmontag (day before Shrove Tuesday), Good Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve.

Nearest public transport station: Hauptbahnhof (Central Station)

Neues Museum is located in the historic center and easy to reach. It's just a few steps away from the nearby main railway station. A few minutes' walk leads from Bahnhofsplatz through the Artisans‘ Yard at Königstor to Klarissenplatz. There are several parking garages close by.

The entrance to the museum is located on Klarissenplatz.

cloakroom

We kindly ask you to lock your bags and rucksacks in the cloakroom during your visit. For security reasons, bags larger than A4 size (approx. 20 x 30 cm), suitcases, all types of rucksacks and carrying frames, bulky items, umbrellas and raincoats may not be taken into the exhibition rooms. In cases of doubt, the ticket office or supervisory staff will decide.

Lockable cloakroom lockers are available in the upper and lower foyers for use during your visit to the museum. A 1 euro coin is required as a deposit. Storage in the cloakroom lockers is free of charge. No liability can be accepted.

Please also note that we do not have the facilities to store large suitcases.

For security reasons, all cloakroom lockers must be emptied at the end of visiting hours. Otherwise, our staff will open and empty the cloakroom locker at your expense.

Am I allowed to take photographs in the museum?

Photography, filming and audio recordings in and of the Neues Museum are only permitted for personal, non-commercial use and without flash photography or equipment such as tripods, light boxes, etc. For all other purposes, advance notification of the planned photo, film or audio recordings and written permission from the Neues Museum are required.

Are there places to sit in the museum?

There are benches in some of the collection and exhibition rooms. You are welcome to borrow mobile folding stools free of charge for your visit to the museum. We also have walking frames and wheelchairs available for you to borrow free of charge. Please ask at the ticket desk.

Do you have a café?

We do not have a café – here you can enjoy Japanese cuisine.

Can I pay for admission by card?

Yes, card payment is generally possible.

Can I bring my dog to the museum?

We thank you for your understanding that dogs and other animals are unfortunately not allowed in the museum. Assistance dogs are of course exempt from this rule. Please inform the ticket office if you are bringing an assistance dog.
