Working Out

Daniel Widrig

The exhibition Working Out transforms the main hall at Neues Museum into a spacious studio for Daniel Widrig, calling into question traditional views of how art shows are conceived. Widrig focuses attention on his practice and on unfinished works – artist and audience meet, blurring the lines between design, architecture and art. Usually hidden away, the production process itself becomes the central element of the exhibition experience, as the museum space becomes a workshop, a material depot and a canvas all at once.

The items on show range from material studies to sculptures to experimental design objects. Rather than being presented in isolation, they are embedded in the context of the process that created them. Robot arms, casting moulds, milling machines and 3D printers make the artist’s work tangible.

Daniel Widrig (born 1977 in Nuremberg) lives as an artist, architect and designer in London.

The exhibition opening will take place as part of the anniversary celebrations on Saturday, 22 February 2025 from 6 pm.
