Today, answering such complex questions requires us to think on a larger scale. Which is where the potential of design comes into play: the exhibition shows how design, with its holistic approaches, can help us to tackle such challenges.
Design is often understood as nothing more than the creation of individual, supposedly beautiful objects. But design is capable of far more than this when understood as the shaping of contexts and processes. Today, design can combine ecological cycles and biodiversity with the needs of our ongoing coexistence. It can shape digital change while taking the human factor seriously. And it can create spaces in which diverse views come together in dialogue. This makes design a key competence for driving transformation in ways that are humane and ecologically sustainable.
