For the firs time, Bernhard Prinz has created an installation combining new pictures with some of his earliest works: three of his allegories meet with five architectural motifs. Prinz came to prominence with allegorical scenes which, like the historical works on which they draw, show female figures in striking poses as the expression of ideas. The fact that these ideas do not correspond with the canon of universal values, instead posing a challenge as linguistic gestures by the artist, links them with the architectural compositions. Here, although concrete structures can be identified, their clarity is soon countered by photography’s capacity for abstraction. The rhetorical charge and the combination of the two types of picture creates a new space of experience with rich associative potential.
