He painted at a time when the future of painting seemed uncertain. Today, he is considered one of the most important artists of the 1980s and 1990s: Günther Förg.

A collection of no fewer than eight major paintings by Günther Förg (1952–2013), complemented by a large-format photograph of the Bauhaus building in Dessau, brings to life the work of a painter whose creative flow becomes palpable and is transmitted to the viewer.
One need not be familiar with the specific references he makes in his art, which trace back to Modernism, to forget the world around oneself while observing the loosely applied patches of color, floating or clustered grid and window forms, and to let oneself drift in a flow that springs from history. The paintings, all from a private collection, span the period from 1987 to 2008.
