Football and superstition? Lucky charms and rituals play a major role in fan culture. Hamburg artist Aleen Solari (born 1980) investigated this for 1. FCN and created a surprising installation.

The artist explains her approach as follows: ‘I want to explore the magic of rituals, customs and routines. To shed light on match day in very different ways. From mental training to the robes worn. The “research results” are translated into artistic objects.’
Aleen Solaris' field research project is the fourth contribution to the ClubKunst series initiated by 1. FCN. The Institute for Modern Art is another partner. Dagmar Buhr, Winfried Baumann and Philip Kojo Metz have previously explored various aspects of football.
ClubKunst is now being hosted by the NMN for the first time. There are two reasons for this: 1. FCN is celebrating its 125th anniversary, while the NMN is turning 25.
The exhibition is a collaboration between the New Museum, the Institute for Modern Art and 1. Fußball-Club Nürnberg e. V. to mark 125 years of 1. FCN.
